The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek #7
In the Champions League, we keep it neat and in the Premier League another clean sheet. For a defenders future, rumours abound and in FPL still pretty sound.
The Good,
The win over Bologna at Anfield on Wednesday. A close-ranged effort from Alexis Mac Allister and a screamer Mo Salah was enough to settle this hotly-contested fixture. Despite the scoreline, Bologna can consider themselves unlucky to come away empty handed after a brave display from these Champions League debutants.
The second half underlined this, as Alisson Becker was called upon to pull off a couple of vital saves, as their visitors smelled the opportunity to rattle their hosts. As time ticked into the final 15 minutes, Mo Salah scored a trademark effort, cutting in from the left to launch a screamer past the despairing Lukas Skorupski.
The (Not) Bad
The win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park yesterday. Liverpool continued their assured start to the season making it six wins out of seven so far with this victory.
As usual, it didn’t go without drama, with Alisson limping off in the final 15 minutes with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. It’s too early to say how long the Brazilian will be on the sidelines for, but one would hazard a guess of a couple of weeks at least with this type of injury.
The Ugly
The article in the Echo claiming that Real Madrid have made contact with Trent Alexander-Arnold over a free transfer move to the Spanish giants. The Mirror this week quoted the Spanish outlet Relevo, who claimed that contact has been made with a view to signing the academy graduate on a free. So far the local lad has shown no signs of extending his time with his boyhood club.
As with most of these things, theres’s no smoke without fire. We all know of the bromance between Trent and his England teammate Jude Bellingham, who has no doubt spoken glowingly of his life in the Spanish capital.
