The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek #35

This was Liverpool’s performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

The (Not) Good

This was Liverpool’s performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday. The visitors fell behind early on, following some weak defending and seemed not to be able to recover thereafter.

Things got worse for the visitors when Virgil van Dijk’s clearance ricocheted off Jarell Quansah into the Liverpool net, to extend Chelsea‘s lead in somewhat unfortunate circumstances.

Liverpool were given a lifeline in the 85th minute when van Dijk headed in an Alexis Mac Allister corner. Despite the Reds applying some pressure with the introduction of Dominic Szoboszlai and Mac Allister, Chelsea were resolute in defence.

The (Not) Bad

This week I have chosen a video that I saw on YouTube this week from Sky Sports, an interview with Arne Slot.

What struck me about the interview was when the head coach was asked how it felt when Liverpool approached him to be their new man. The Dutchman remarked how surprised he was at the level of knowledge that Liverpool had about the players, not to mention himself.

What this shows me is that Liverpool as an operation, is run with almost military precision! For those fans who are in the FSG Out brigade I would like to ask them this: who in this world would you suggest could run Liverpool Football Club in a better way?

When one of the said brigade can leave a comment, write me an email whatever, and give me a credible and concrete answer then I will understand their position. However, until that happens. I will remain a fan of the owners of this club.

The (Sm)Ugly

Regardless of yesterday‘s result Liverpool remain top of the Premier League and this will not change… Because they are CHAMPIONS!!

So, yes it was a crap result, no this is not how we wanted to gameweek 35 to turn out. However, there are some things that just can’t be overlooked and one of those such things, is that Liverpool have a hell of a lot to be happy about.
