The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek #37

The Good

Hopefully signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen 05. This brings to mind the English expression: the King is dead long live the King!

Since confirmation from Trent Alexander-Arnold that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, Liverpool have wasted no time in securing a replacement.

Without being in the know it seems fairly obvious that Richard Hughes and his team have probably had this move lined up for sometime, in anticipation that local lad Trent may not extend his stay at the club he has graced for the last 20 years.

Hopefully, the club can get this over the line and that will be one part of the puzzle completed in time for next season. Watch this space…

The Bad

The loss against Brighton & Hove Albion last night. To add to the disappointing results against Chelsea and Arsenal, Liverpool duly lost to Brighton and Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium last night.

Despite taking the lead early on through Harvey Elliott Liverpool were pegged back After 35 minutes by Yasin Ayari. However, Dominik Szoboszlai was on hand to restore Liverpool‘s lead with a superb effort from the edge of the Brighton box.

In a poor second-half showing, Liverpool struggled to find any rhythm and were duly punished by a Kaoru Mitoma equalizer.

As time ticked away, a tired looking Liverpool conceded yet again to hand their hosts a well-deserved victory.

The Ugly

Not just Alexis Mac Allister’s injury, but the entire team level has fallen off a cliff since claiming the title.

The team‘s form has suffered since the claiming the title for the 20th time. The effort they put into their success has clearly caught up with them.

Since a few weeks now, it has been clear that Liverpool have been struggling physically. Goals have been conceded and leads given away in a fashion that was not present in the earlier part of the season.

It seems to me that the end of the season can’t come quick enough for the players. A well-earned rest awaits them and a chance to recharge their depleted batteries in time for next season.
