Liverpool vs Manchester United Match Preview

One of the biggest games in club football takes place at Anfield on Saturday. Vinolin takes a peak at what is bound to be an eventful game tomorrow as the Liverpool take on arch-rivals Manchester United.

Match Preview

Liverpool vs Manchester United is the biggest game in England and maybe the entire world. Liverpool come into this encounter in really poor form and are already 7 points behind their arch rivals.

United are flying high this season and will hope to leapfrog Man City with a win at Anfield. Both teams have midweek Champions League fixtures but the focus for both managers will be on this huge encounter. Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho will both have their players pumped up for this game. As with all rivalries, form goes out the window.

Last Meeting: Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool (15th January 2017)

The last meeting between both sides ended in a 1-1 draw. A late Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal cancelled out James Milner’s first half penalty. The last game at Anfield between these two sides also ended in a draw, 0-0. Jose Mourinho got his tactics spot on that day and the Reds were unable to get through the ‘parked bus.’

The last three encounters between these sides have all been draws. The last time the visitors tasted victory at Anfield was in 2014.

Team and Injury News

The curse of the international break struck Liverpool as Sadio Mane picked up a hamstring injury in Senegal’s 2-0 victory away against Cape Verde. He will be a big miss for this match and for the next month or so. Liverpool do however have Dejan Lovren fit for this encounter. The Reds will still be without both Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne yet again.

Manchester United have had their own bad luck with the international break curse. Marouane Fellaini is out with an injury. Romelu Lukaku will be fit for this match and is expected to lead the line for the Red devils. Manager Mourinho will still be without Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for this crucial game.

Predicted Lineup

LFC (4-3-3): Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino

MUN (4-2-3-1): De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Bailly, Young, Matic, Herrera, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Lukaku

Prediction

Liverpool 1-1 Manchester United – This encounter should be a good game and Liverpool will see plenty of the ball. United will set up for the draw and they will be happy to leave Anfield with a point.

At the moment you can’t see Liverpool keeping a clean sheet against United’s strike force. Liverpool should score as well but the visitors will frustrate them and this match should end in a score draw.
