Liverpool vs Huddersfield Match Preview

A confident Vinolin Naidoo takes a look ahead to tomorrow’s game as Liverpool welcome Huddersfield to Anfield. An easy three points for the Reds? Match Preview

This fixture can be described as a David vs Goliath fixture as Huddersfield roll into Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers will be looking for another major premier league upset after the upset win over Manchester United at the John Smith’s stadium last week.

The Reds come into this encounter after a disappointing thrashing at the hands of Tottenham at ‘Anfield South’ last weekend. Much of the build-up for this match has been all about the ‘bromance’ between Jurgen Klopp and David Wagner.

These two are the best of friends but their admiration for each other will be put aside for 90 minutes this Saturday.
Liverpool are only one point above the Terriers leading into Saturday’s clash, but a home win could push them back to within touching distance of the Premier League top four.

Team and Injury News

Liverpool are without four key players for this encounter in Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Phil Coutinho and Nathaniel Clyne. Many fans are expecting heads to roll after the abysmal showing against Spurs. Manager Klopp, may well make a few changes to the starting XI, and Joe Gomez may well be partnering Joel Matip in the heart of the Reds defense. Oxlade-Chamberlain will also be pushing for a start for this game.

Huddersfield have a few long term absentees of their own. Jon Gorenc Stankovoic and Kasey Palmer are out for the foreseeable future. Denmark U21 international Philip Billing, recently went under the knife and had ankle surgery. The club confirmed that he will be out for 12 weeks.

Predicted Lineup

LFC (4-3-3): Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Gomez, Moreno, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino

HUD (4-2-3-1): Lossl, Smith, Zanka, Schnidler, Lowe, Hogg, Williams, Van Lan Parra, Mooy, Ince, Depoitre

Prediction

Liverpool 3-1 Huddersfield – Huddersfield play a high pressing game just like Liverpool, if they play the same tactics against the Reds then they will be in trouble on Saturday.

This game should see plenty of goals and with Liverpool’s problems at the back you can expect the Terriers to score at least 1 goal. However, the Reds have too much firepower upfront and expect Mo Salah to have a field day with a goal and an assist.
