Tottenham v Liverpool – Match Preview

Liverpool are heading to North London to meet Tottenham in the Premier League clash tomorrow afternoon. The Reds will hope to thrive on their huge mid-week win against SSC Napoli. Tottenham, on the other hand, will be in full belief they can carry on their decent form and consolidate their third spot in the table.

Overview

Liverpool’s Premier League form needs improvement, therefore Jurgen Klopp has been trying different formations in recent weeks – a standard 4-4-2 and a 4-4-2 diamond.

However, these systems exploited the Reds in crucial areas on the turf. That being said, the German gaffer reverted to a 4-3-3 setting against Napoli which bore fruit in overcoming them.

Each time Klopp takes his side to away grounds, many worry about the final outcome. Liverpool have notched up just two points out of possible 15 as a visiting team. At the other end of the spectrum, Antonio Conte’s outfit run riot at their home ground in the Premier League. So far, they’ve played six encounters there, registered five victories and a paintful loss to Newcastle.

Tottenham sit third in the league table, while Liverpool occupy ninth spot. There are ten points dividing both sides.

Head to head

The last five meetings between these two ended in two wins, two draws and a defeat for Liverpool.

It’s been five years since the Reds last returned pointless to Merseyside from London.

Team news

Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo will need to spend more time on the sidelines before they return to action. Naby Keita and Joel Matip are both unlikely to be considered for the game.

James Milner will be out of the contest as a precaution after being suffering concussion in midweek. However, there’s a positive update regarding the skipper. Jordan Henderson will be available for the London trip.

Meanwhile, Conte will have a selection headache following Heung-Min Son’s absence due to face injury. Richarlison and Cristiano Romero are definitely ruled out.

The medical staff will still need to assess the fitness of Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Rodrigo are Bentancur who could be ready fo the Sunday’s clash.

Summary

Looking up the league table, the most eventful place is expected to be in north London this weekend at very least on the paper. At noon Chelsea are scheduled to take on Arsenal, with the Tottenham – Liverpool clash concluding the Gameweek 15 of this season’s Premier League.

Harry Kane’s in excellent form, having registered 10 goals under his belt and an assist. As for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino leads the way as the best goalscorer with six strikes and three assists.

I believe Liverpool can get a narrow win against Spurs. Jurgen Klopp’s side tend to deliver against big teams this campaign, leaving Tottenham pointless would be a major step forward. Moreover, the absence of Son up front might turn out to be crucial.
