The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek 1

Opening day joys against the Tractors Boys, and the boss; he can make some noise. Is it really wise, to have made no buys? In fantasy there’s no stop, as we zoom to the top.

The Good,

The opening day win against newly promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road yesterday.

The result was a fairly straight forward one. Goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah were enough to see off Kieren McKenna’s newly-promoted and much-talked about side.

On this showing, there was a lot of promise from the Tractor Boys, but also evidence that if they don’t learn quickly, it’ll be a long hard season for them.

The (Not) Bad

Arne Slots face at half time after seeing his side kept in check by the confident and aggressive Tractors Boys. the first half saw the Reds kept well at arms length and as they were frustrated by their once-illustrious hosts.

It seems as if the new boss must have made his feelings known during his half time team talk, and the players responded accordingly.

The Ugly

Liverpool not signing as player so far this season. Is this actually so bad?

Much has been made of the fact that Liverpool have not signed anyone so far this closed season. However, is this really such a bad thing? We’re talking about a team in transition. From my side, it seems that Slot needs at least, time to assess his team before jumping into the transfer market.

It’s clear Liverpool have done their homework on this guy. They are well-known for this in recent times and there is a reason why they have out their trust in him. He’s clearly no “must-spend” manager like some I could mention at the other end of the country, but someone who is a proper coach. He’ll work with the player and give them all a fair chance to shine before making big changes.

Let’s face it, he’s taking over one of the best teams in Europe, if not the world. A squad that has been built by one of the leading managers in recent times. In that sense, what is there to panic about?
